Herbert Fusilier
Graveside services were held for Herbert Fusilier, 88, of Lacassine, today, Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at 10 a.m. under the pavilion in Lacassine. He was called to his Heavenly Father on Jan. 19, 2013, while surrounded by his beloved family. Mr. Fusilier was laid to rest in Lacassine Cemetery with Father Roy Nash officiating.
Herbert was born in Elton on Oct. 15, 1924 to the late Oliphus Fusilier and the late Maria Miller Fusilier. He retired from City Service as an operator of 30 years. Herbert loved his oilfield life and was respected by many fellow coworkers. He raised cattle and enjoyed his life on the farm. He was a very well-organized man. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his two grandchildren.
Mr. Fusilier is survived by his beloved sons, Howard Joseph (Sandra) Fusilier of Elton and Johnny Phillip Fusilier of Lake Charles; one brother, Hubert Fusilier of Elton; and one sister, Bernice Janise of Elton. He also left behind to cherish his memories two grandchildren, Herbert James “Herbie” Fusilier and Kenny Fusilier. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Herbert now rests in Heaven with his beloved family who preceded him in death: his parents, Oliphus and Marie Fusilier; his first wife, Lula Marie Soileau Fusilier; one brother, Winfred Fusilier; and a brother-in law, Henry Janise.
Visitation was held on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, from 4:30-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. and resumed today, Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at 8 a.m. until the time of his graveside service at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings.
