Since October, the Jennings American Legion Hospital (JALH) has tested 627 people for the flu, and most of those patients were treated by the Emergency Room for their symptoms. Phyllis Theriot of JALH said 15 positive flu cases have already been recorded in the month of January as of Wednesday, Jan. 9.

“In December, we had 70 people test positive for the flu,” she added. “We have seen increasing flu-like cases since the first week of November. The last week of 2012 was our highest number of flu and flu-like cases. Most cases seen in our ER were young adults and children.”
