It is with great sadness that the family of Mr. Jerry Wayne Hilbun announces his passing from this life on Jan. 4, 2013, while at his residence in Houston, Texas. He was 52 years of age.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings. Mr. Hilbun will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery following his funeral services, with Rev. Shane Tucker officiating.
Jerry Wayne was born in Jennings to the late LeRoy Wilton Hilbun and the late Doris Elizabeth Wigntman Hilbun on Nov. 22, 1960. He was a resident of Houston, Texas, for over 40 years. He was the owner of Shop of Your Choice Body Shop. He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps. Mr. Hilbun also liked to landscape and he enjoyed listening to classic rock music. He was a very kind, sentimental, and spiritual person who loved spending time with his family. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Lufkin, Texas.
Mr. Hilbun is survived by his son, Jarret Lee Hilbun of Aransas Pass, Texas; one brother, Danny LeRoy (Terri) Hilbun of Galena, Ill.; his four sisters, Joy Loraine (Donald) Tucker of DeRidder, Delores Ann Kazee (and her fiancé Richard Esthay) of Blaine, Ky., Susan Kaye (Duanne) Hodges of Ragley, and Connie Lynne Gordon of Kinder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hilbun was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Doris W. Hilbun; his maternal grandmother, Kathleen “Gan” Smart; and his two nephews, Greg Hodges and Joshua Ross Hilbun.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of his funeral services at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings.
