Locals sound off on Second Amendment
Daily News Staff Report
President Barack Obama announced a sweeping proposal this week that includes a ban on assault weapons; the limiting of high-capacity ammunition magazines; and requiring background checks for all gun buyers. The proposal marks the broadest attempt to tighten gun laws in nearly two decades and faces an uncertain future in Congress, where lawmakers have resisted tougher laws in recent years. Those for reform are asking, “Should your right to own a firearm interfere with my right to live?” while those against reform prefer to quote the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
Jennings Daily News readers were asked to share their opinions of potential gun reform, and most stated that they are against any proposal that limits their rights to keep and bear arms.
