Mervin Trahan

Funeral services for Mervin Trahan, 71, of Jennings, will be held Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Jennings.

Mr. Trahan passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in his residence after a courageous battle with illness.

Visitation will be held today, Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, from 1:30-9 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home, and will resume Friday, Jan. 11, at 8 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited this evening at 6 p.m.

Mervin was a carpenter by trade, and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby long after retirement. He also enjoyed landscaping his yard and  spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a lifelong resident of Jennings.

Mr. Trahan was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Doris Trahan; and two brothers, Lilton Lee Trahan and Russell Trahan.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann Beard Trahan; three sons, Kirk Trahan of Jennings, Keith Trahan of Welsh, and Brian Trahan of Sulphur; his brothers, Ervin Trahan and Oren Trahan, both of Jennings, and Dale Trahan of Iota; his sister, Gayle Trahan of Lake Charles; his grandchildren, Brandi Trahan Guidry, Ashley Trahan Burrow, Wade Trahan, Josh Trahan, Gillian Guidry, Will Trahan, Spencer Trahan, Nicholas Trahan, Peyton Trahan, Logan Trahan and Luke Trahan; and his great-grandchildren, Hannah Trahan, Kylan Trahan, Mason Trahan, Marleigh Trahan and Hudson Burrow.

Pallbearers will be Wade Trahan, Josh Trahan, Will Trahan, Spencer Trahan, Nicholas Trahan and Peyton Trahan.
