Parish looking for new jail site

The parish is looking for a potential home for a new parish jail.
Jeff Davis Police Jury President Donald Woods said that while no definite plans have been made yet, the parish has contracted an engineer to determine the feasibility of using the Southern Barbecue building on U.S. 90 in Jennings.
“We are looking at this building as an option, but there are no plans in the works to purchase the building,” Woods said. “We are just having an engineer look into the feasibility of using that building as a jail.”
