Funeral services for Andy Guidry, 82, of Mermentau will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. Joseph the Evangelist Church in Mermentau with the Rev. Charles McMillin officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph the Evangelist Cemetery in Mermentau, under the direction of Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings.
Visitation will be held from 4:30-9 p.m. today, and will continue from 8 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013.
Mr. Guidry died at 9:45 a.m., Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Camelot Brookside Nursing Home in Jennings.
“Mr. Andy”, as he was known by so many, owned Marie’s Village Gate (presently Cest Bon Restaurant) and also worked as a bookkeeper. He loved music and cutting grass.
Survivors include two sons, Darryll Guidry of Mermentau Cove, Burton (Jackie) Guidry of Mire; three daughters, Susan Guidry of Sulphur, Myra (Billy) Hebert and Tessy Guidry, all of Jennings.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Wright Guidry; his second wife, Jean LeBlanc Guidry; two sons Kenny Guidry and Bobby Guidry; his daughter-in-law, Christine Beard Guidry; his granddaughter, Malori Joan Guidry; and four sisters, Bertha, Peggy, Mary and Gerlie.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Aaron Guidry, Andrew Guidry, Joshua Clement, Spencer Comeaux, and Jon Michael Guidry, and his nephew, Tyron Guidry. Honorary pallbearer will be his grandson, Noah Hebert.
