Colon Cancer Awareness walk planned

WELSH – Organizers with an upcoming cancer awareness benefit walk here are hoping to make a difference for a local family and cancer research.

The first Colon Cancer Awareness Benefit Walk will take off from Sportsman’s Park in Welsh on March 23. One of the walk’s founders, Traci McClelland, said the benefit was originally meant to help offset medical and funeral expenses for the family of Welsh resident Daniel “Danny” Leger, who recently lost his battle with colon cancer. Though the Leger family is facing $150,000 in costs, they actually requested that more of the benefit funds be given to further cancer research.
