DA convictions announced

Jeff Davis Parish District Attorney Michael Cassidy announced the following convictions obtained during the Jan. 28, 2013 criminal petit jury session in the 31st Judicial District Court:
Whitney Gary of Jennings pled guilty to Oral Sexual Battery, to the lessor included charge of Attempted Aggravated Rape, and to the lessor included charge of Attempted Aggravated Rape. The court deferred sentencing until after the defendant has been released from federal custody. The court ordered the sheriff’s office to place a hold on the defendant with the federal government. The defendant will serve 50 years at hard labor with the Department of Corrections to run concurrent with his Federal sentence, to be served without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence on each count and register as a sex offender for life.
