Dogs drop district contest in overtime

The Jennings Bulldogs visited the South Beauregard Knights in a district showdown Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs were downed by the Lady Ks, 91-29, while the Knights barely got by the Bulldogs, 79-75, in overtime.
In boys’ action, the Bulldogs struck first with a jumper by Malik Williams. The home team countered with a jumper of their own and tied up the game at two. Both teams traded baskets throughout the first quarter with the home team holding the edge. The Knights led the Bulldogs 18-14 late in the first quarter. Consecutive jumpers by Curtis Bell and Chris Perkins knotted the game at 18 with less than a minute left in the first quarter. The Knights nailed a free throw to end the quarter. The Knights led the Bulldogs 19-18 at the end of the first quarter.
