Gas line ruptures in Silverwood

SILVERWOOD – On Wednesday, a natural gas line ruptured here near Mermentau along U.S. 90, causing a fire and power outages for some residents in the area.
The gas line ruptured near the Mermentau Bridge, causing a portion of U.S. 90 to be closed in both directions to traffic Wednesday morning, according to the Louisiana State Police Troop D Public Information Officer Sgt. James Anderson.
