Karen Louise Portie went to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 31, 2013.
She was born on Nov. 28, 1947, in Jennings. A 1966 graduate of Jennings High School, she moved to Houston, Texas, where she spent several years in the oil and gas industry. She loved nature and animals.
Karen was preceded to Heaven by her parents, John and Thelma Portie.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathy LeBlanc; three sisters, Marsha (Kent) Stewart of Springfield, Mo., Jonny Sue Portie of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Melanie (Kevin) Barden of Marshfield, Mo.; and two brothers, David (Jackie) Portie of Jennings and Troy LaVergne of Branson, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
A memorial has been established in Karen’s name through the Lutheran Hour at 660 Mason Ridge Center Dr., St. Louis, Mo., 63141.
