Local principal honored in surprise ceremony

The Jeff Davis Parish Principal of the Year was surprised by her faculty and students with a special ceremony Wednesday afternoon.
James Ward Elementary Principal Suzanne Doucet was aware of the title she had received but not of party plans when she entered the school’s gym to teachers and students serenading her with Alicia Keys’ “This Girl is on Fire.” A “red carpet” made of construction paper was rolled out for the top dog in the school as she was led to the front of the crowd.
