Locals stuck on Carnival Triumph

By SHEILA SMITH

The most recent trip on the cruise ship Carnival Triumph has proved to be anything but a joy ride.

The ship left Galveston last Thursday and was scheduled to return Sunday. But a fire in the ship’s engine room Saturday morning has left the vessel running on generators. After days without air conditioning, ample food and sanitary conditions, the estimated 4,200 people aboard the ship should finally see dry land today.
