The Midland Rebels rallied from a five-point deficit with less than 1:49 left in the game Wednesday to take a 50-47 win over the Hathaway Hornets. The win gave Midland the extra point that a team gets for winning district and makes the Rebels an automatic qualifier for the playoffs. The loss gives Hathaway a half point extra for second place in District 7B.

“We struggled offensively tonight,” said Midland Coach Todd Briley after the big win. “We never quit and never gave up and had a chance to win the game. We hung in there and it worked out.”

Midland and Hathaway both led in a back and forth affair Wednesday with the Rebels claiming the win for the district crown.
