Monica June Ewing
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Monica June Ewing announce her passing from this life peacefully on Feb. 8, 2013, in Grand Junction, Colo., at the age of 50.
Funeral services honoring her life will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings She will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery. Brother Lenford Whitaker will be officiating her services.
Monica June was born in Jennings to Kenneth and Nettie Thibodeaux Ewing on Nov. 2, 1962. She was a resident of Jennings nearly all of her life until moving to Colorado only five months ago. June was a homemaker and devoted her life to the care of her family. She was a faithful parishioner of her faith and was a member of The Pentecostal Church of Crowley. She had a love of music. Everyone who knew her enjoyed listening to her sing and play the piano. Her greatest joy in life was raising her granddaughter.
June is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Nettie T. Ewing of Jennings; her three sons, Bryce Ewing of Jennings, Brenton Sonnier, also of Jennings, and Brandt Sonnier of Fruita, Colo.; one daughter, Brionna Sonnier of Fruita, Colo.; her two brothers, Dimmick (Sonja) Ewing of Fruita, Colo., and Heath Ewing of Jennings; one sister, Tesa Ewing (Johnny) Hollier of Jennings; her granddaughter, Gracey Ewing; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with her family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and will resume on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, from 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral services.
