Richard named JPD officer in special ceremony

When police officers take an oath of honor before joining the line of duty, most accept the responsibility with a simple “I do.”

But when Jennings Police Department (JPD) Honorary Officer Blaize Richard accepted his oath Saturday, he grabbed the microphone from JPD Chief Todd D’Albor’s hand and called out across the Louisiana Oil and Gas Park, “I do!”

Area residents, law enforcement members and friends and family of the honoree gathered in the Louisiana Oil and Gas Park Saturday for Blaize Richard Day, where the young man was made an honorary member of the Jennings Police and Jeff Davis Sheriff’s departments and given a key to the City of Jennings by Mayor Terry Duhon.
