Last week, the no. 1-ranked Lacassine Lady Cardinals upended no. 32-ranked Lafayette Christian in the bi-district round by a 93-8 count, and then outscored Academy of Sacred Heart in a regional match on Thursday, 33-18, to advance to the quarterfinal round of the LHSAA Girls’ Basketball Playoffs. The Lady Cards are set to host no. 8-seed Converse at 6 p.m. Monday. Converse advanced by beating no. 25 Singer (74-32) and no. 9 Hornbeck (39-29) last week, as well.
Meanwhile, the no. 4-ranked Hathaway’s Lady Hornets will also have home-court advantage for the Class B quarterfinals Monday, as they are set to host visiting Rapides (no. 12) at 6:30 p.m. Hathaway upended Stanley (no. 29) in bi-district play, 59-27, and Midland (no. 20) in regionals, 51-24, to keep their season alive. If Lacassine and Hathaway both win Monday’s quarterfinal contests, the district-mates will rematch each other in the semi-finals, which are set for Feb. 28-March 2 at Fant-Ewing Coliseum in Monroe.
