Alvin James Hebert
The family and friends of Alvin James Hebert, 78, are mourning the loss of their loved one. He was called to his Heavenly Father from his daughter’s home in Opelousas on March 4, 2013, while in the arms of his beloved wife, “Sis”. He was surrounded by his family that he loved so dearly.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Raymond on March 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. with Father Babasino Fernandes officiating. Alvin will be laid to rest in Raymond-Hathaway Community Cemetery following his services.
A gathering of Alvin’s family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 2:30-9 p.m., with a rosary recited by Deacon Mike Tramel at 6 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings. Visiting hours will resume on Friday at 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral mass.
Alvin James was born in Bell City to the late Raoul Hebert and the late Lourence Vincent Hebert on October 15, 1934. He was a retired rice, soybean and crawfish farmer. Alvin loved being on the farm and spending time with his family. He enjoyed flying and would soar through the air like an angel. He liked spending time fishing and hunting. Alvin was a fourth degree knight with the Knights of Columbus. He was a kind and loving son, husband, father and grandfather who will be truly missed by all who were blessed to have him in their lives.
Alvin is survived by his beloved wife of 58 beautiful years, Elizabeth “Sis” Theriot Hebert of Opelousas; his five sons and their spouses, Michael and Debbie Hebert of Hathaway, Samuel and Rhonda Hebert of Baton Rouge, Stephen Raoul and Patti Hebert of Philadelphia, John and Becky Hebert of San Antonio, Texas, and Frank Hebert and Ricky Hicks of Maryville, Tenn.; one daughter and her husband, Melanie and Robert Weaver of Opelousas; his two sisters, Elgine Chaisson of Lake Charles and Mary Lou (Pirmin) Habetz of Ragley; his 12 beautiful grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
Alvin now rests in Heaven with his beloved family who preceded him in death: his parents, Raoul and Lourence Hebert; his step mother, Louise Hebert; one grandbaby, Christina Dawn Hebert; his brother, Bobby Lee Hebert; and his two infant sisters.
Carrying Alvin to his eternal resting place will be Adam Hebert, Jordan, Collin and Jacob Weaver, and Eric, Austin and Cole Hebert.
