Daylight Savings Time starts Sunday

Everyone should prepare to lose a little sleep this weekend as Daylight Savings Time (DST) forces clocks to spring forward Sunday, March 10.
DST always begins on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November.
The change to DST allows everyone to use less energy in lighting their homes, but for area fire chiefs, the time change coincides with another important change – smoke detector batteries. Residents are reminded to change their clocks before going to bed on Saturday, since the stool or ladder and fresh batteries will already be out for the clock change.
