Fairview wins seventh consecutive state title

MONROE – The second seeded Fairview Lady Panthers started fast and finished strong in taking a 71-38 win over the first seeded Lacassine Lady Cardinals in the Class B State Championship game Wednesday. It marks the seventh straight title for Fairview, with four of those titles coming against Lacassine.
Fairview (43-1) jumped out to an early 11-2 lead with 5:13 to play in the first quarter after knocking down three three-pointers. Abbie Melanson stopped the run with a basket for Lacassine to trail 11-4. Fairview continued with their excellent shooting performance in the first quarter with two more three-pointers to take a 21-8 first quarter lead.
