Former police chief pleads not guilty at arraignment

A former Jennings police chief accused of stealing items from the department’s evidence room pleaded not guilty Thursday in district court.

According to Jeff Davis District Attorney Michael Cassidy, Johnny D. Lassiter, 52, was arraigned Thursday on charges of malfeasance in office, obstruction of justice, and theft.
