Maxine Andrews Stanley
WELSH – Graveside services for Mrs. Maxine Andrews Stanley will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, in Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home. Brother Stephen Laughlin, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Winnfield, will officiate.
Mrs. Stanley, at 94-1/2, a Gold Star Wife, passed away on March 18, 2013, en route to Autumn Leaves Nursing Home in Winnfield.
Mrs. Stanley was born on July 16, 1918, at Harrisonburg. She graduated from Harrisonburg High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts on May 31, 1941, from Louisiana State Normal School in Natchitoches, and retired 30 years later from Caldwell and Acadia Parish Schools.
At the time of her death, Mrs. Stanley was a resident of Winnfield and a member of the First Baptist Church of Winnfield where Brother Stephen Laughlin is pastor.
She is survived by one sister, Helen Andrews (Dr. Jack B.) Evans of Winnfield; one niece, Ann Evans (Dr. Robert) Horton of Sugarland, Texas; one grandniece, Dr. Amy Celeste Horton (Mr. Adam) Thornton of St. Louis, Mo.; one grandnephew, Michael Andrew (Josephini Beck) Horton of Issaquah, Wash.; one great-grandnephew, Jack Elliot Horton of Issaquah, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Linda May Stanley of Lexington, Virg.; two step-grandsons, Adam Paton Stanley-Smith of Paris, France, and Andrew Kirkpatrick Stanley-Smith of Lexington, Virg.; one step-granddaughter, Annika Augusta Marie Stanley-Smith of Lexington, Virg.; and many nieces and nephews of Ray Greene.
Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Mittie Belle Graves Andrews, of Marion; by two husbands, Ray Greene of Columbia, and Ralph Lett Stanley of Jennings; her sisters, Marie Andrews (Mr. Earnest) Guinn of Harrisonburg, and Marguerite “Ann” Andrews (Mr. Donald) Robinson of Roanoke.
