Now that the state’s project to widen La. 97 is well underway, the city is laying the groundwork for another project that would open up commercial development in North Jennings.

Jennings Mayor Terry Duhon said the city would like to build a 2-2.5 mile-long roadway that would connect La. 102 to La. 97. The road would be two or three lanes and would run from Virginia Street near Jennings High School and end just west of the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home on La. 97.

The city wants to open up commercial development in the northern part of town by adding a road that would connect La. 102 to La. 97 near the interstate. The new road would start at Virginia Street (above) and end just west of the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home on La. 97.
