Raises draw criticism amidst cuts

“The problem with government is that they lose touch with reality because they are using other people’s money,” said Lake Arthur resident Troy Trahan. “Regardless of party or race, we, the voters, must hold all local, state and federal government elected officials accountable for the mess they have created. We must bring common sense back to government.”

Trahan’s comments were directed toward recent pay raises that Louisiana’s statewide elected officials handed out to various employees despite the state’s continuing budget shortfalls and repeated cuts to services.
