Renewal of Violence Against Women Act to benefit more than victims

Family violence prevention and intervention programs in the state have suffered major budget cuts over the past two years but Congress’ renewal of the Violence Against Women Act should stabilize some funding.
Domestic violence programs have been nervous about whether the act would be renewed because, though it has been renewed twice before, the law lapsed in 2011 thanks to partisan battles within Congress.
