The family and friends of Tasha Leigh Istre are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called into the arms of Jesus on March 8, 2013, at the age of 28.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Tasha at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Mermentau on Monday, March 11, 2013, at 2 p.m. Father Neil McNeil will officiate. Tasha will be laid to rest in the LeBlanc Cemetery in Midland following her services.

Visitation will begin today, Sunday, March 10, 2013, from 3:30-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings. Visiting hours will resume on Monday, March 11, 2013, at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass.

Tasha Leigh was born in Jennings to Clifford Istre and the late Tommie Huckaby on Sept. 21, 1984. She was a kind and loving mother who cherished her four children. Tasha loved writing poems, texting on her cell phone, and spending time outdoors.

Tasha is survived by her four beautiful children, Jason, Austin, Adam and Hannah Smith, all of Abbeville; her father and stepmother, Clifford and Sharlene Istre of Evangeline; her grandmother, Laura Istre of Jennings; her two sisters, Christine Renee Istre and Chelsea Lynne Istre, both of Jennings; one brother, Christopher Paul Istre of Jennings; two stepsisters, Samatha Paige Trahan and Ashley Marie Trahan, both of Evangeline; her five aunts, JoAnne Huckaby Istre of Jennings, Elaine Istre (Kenneth Vincent), Dale and Robert Lopez, and Phyllis and Don Garcia, all of Mermentau, and Pauline and Irby Rougeaux of Alexandra.

Tasha now rests in Heaven with her beloved family who preceded her in death: her mother, Tommie Huckaby; and her grandparents, Clifton Istre and James and Nelda Lovett.

Carrying Tasha to her eternal resting place in LeBlanc Cemetery will be Chris Istre, David Byrd, Scott Levy, James Huckaby, Don Garcia and Kirt Istre.
