A look at some of the issues facing lawmakers

BATON ROUGE (AP) — More than 900 bills have been filed by lawmakers for consideration in the 2013 regular session that starts Monday. Among some of the high-profile issues up for debate:

TAXES: Gov. Bobby Jindal proposes a more than $3 billion tax swap that would do away with the state’s individual income tax and corporate income and franchise taxes. To offset the lost revenue, Jindal proposes an increased state sales tax charged on a new list of services, elimination of some severance tax breaks for the oil and gas industry and higher tobacco taxes. Lawmakers are proposing other tax phase-outs, changes, increases and exemptions.
