Bob Shirley Ortego
The family and friends of Bob “Bobby” Shirley Ortego are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life and into the arms of Jesus during the early morning hours of Friday, April 5, 2013, at the age of 50.
Funeral services honoring Bobby’s life will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Monday, April 8, 2013, at 10 a.m. Bobby will be laid to eternal rest in Mermentau Cemetery. Father Charles McMillin will officiate his services.
A gathering of family and friends to bid their final farewell to Bobby will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday, April 8, 2013, at 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral services.
Bob Shirley was born in Jennings to the late James Ortego and the late Clara Belle LeBlanc on June 16, 1962. He worked in the construction industry. He enjoyed cooking and barbecueing. He also loved watching the New Orleans Saints, Court TV, and listening to French and Zydeco music.
Bobby is survived by his beloved wife of 31 beautiful years, Joselyn Trahan Ortego of Jennings; three sons, Brennon Scott Ortego, Shannon Paul Ortego and Kade Jude Ortego, all of Jennings; his daughter, Chasity Dawn Ortego Touchet of Jennings; his maternal grandmother, Bernice Kibodeaux, also of Jennings; two brothers, Willy (Charlotte) Martinez of Jennings, and James C. (Norma) Ortego of Broussard; one sister, Teddy (Rick) O’Quinn of Lake Charles; and his three beautiful grandchildren, Layna Touchet, Katelyn Touchet and Blaycie Ortego. Bobby also leaves behind to cherish his memories his grandmother-in-law, Bernice Lopez of Jennings; one aunt, Roxanne (Michael) Newsom of Thibodeaux; his brother-in-law, Kent (Paula) Trahan of Jennings; five nieces; and three nephews.
Bobby now rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, James and Clara Belle LeBlanc Patin; and his stepfather, Clarence “CJ” Patin Jr.
Carrying Bobby to his eternal resting place in Mermentau Cemetery will be Willy Martinez, Brennon Ortego, Kade Ortego, Kent Trahan, Keegan Guidry and Jeffery Trahan. Honorary pallbearers will include Shannon Ortego, Kendall Trahan and Troy Stutes.
Please make donations to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, as Mr. Ortego’s family has already taken care of all funeral expenses.
