Jennings Elementary School fifth graders showcased their ballroom dancing skills Wednesday for the school’s annual “Dancing Classrooms” program. The students have been learning dances like the foxtrot, tango, meringue, heel toe polka, swing and rumba all year to prepare for Wednesday’s performance and capped off the show with a group line dance through the auditorium. The mission of the program is to build social awareness, confidence and self-esteem in children through the practice of social dance. This year’s program was entirely funded by school fundraisers. However, any businesses or individuals interested in becoming involved in next year’s program can call Teresa Bruchhaus at 824-4972.
