Lake Arthur High School celebrated its sixth annual Bayou Bash with the eighth grade Louisiana History students. During the event the students were exposed to traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. This event is held each year to show the importance of preserving the unique culture of Southwest Louisiana. To prepare for this event, students designed their own wire screen Mardi Gras masks. The Jeff Davis Arts Council provided the funding for the supplies through its Art-In-Education Zigler Mini Grant program.
