Dorothy Jane Crochet
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Dorothy Jane Crochet announces her passing from this life and into the arms of the Lord on May 4, 2013, at the age of 83.
Funeral services were held at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings today, Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at 2 p.m. Mrs. Dorothy was laid to rest in Calvary Mausoleum following her services. Father Charles McMillin officiated.
A gathering of Dorothy’s family and friends to bid their final farewell was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Monday, May 6, 2013, from 3:30-8 p.m. with a cursillo rosary recited at 6 p.m., followed by a prayer service given by the Catholic Daughter’s Association. Visitation resumed today, Tuesday, May 7, 2013, from 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral services.
Dorothy Jane was born in Pine Island o the late Alexis Courville and the late Ceclia Prather Courville on June 22, 1929. She worked as a supervisor for Bellsouth Telephone Company for 31 years before retiring. Dorothy was a devoted and active member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughter’s Association and the Ladies Altar Society. She was also a Eucharistic Minister for hospital and home bound residents. Dorothy was a recording secretary for the Pastoral Council, a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a member of KC Auxiliary Council 5755 of West Lake, a life member of the VFW Post 3244 Auxiliary in Lake Arthur, a life member of the Legion of Mary, and a hospice volunteer.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Erik (Nancy) Guidroz of Charlottesville, Virg., and Kevin Charles Guidroz of Jennings; one brother, Donald Ray (Lillie) Courville of Iota; her two sisters, Joyce Miller and Linda Lou (Joseph) Taylor, both of Jennings; and her two beautiful grandchildren, Lauren E. Guidroz and Meagan J. Guidroz.
Dorothy now rests in Heaven with her beloved family who preceded her in death: her parents, Alexis and Cecelia Courville; her first husband of 44 years, Alvin Joseph Guidroz; her second husband, Herbert Crochet; one brother, Jesse Courville; and her sister, Doris Durio.
Carrying Dorothy to her eternal resting place in Calvary Cemetery will be Erik Guidroz, Kevin Guidroz, Joseph Taylor, Shannon Hebert, Vance Richmond and Steven Rider.
