Esther McZeal Jackson
Funeral services for Esther McZeal Jackson, 87, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at St. James Baptist Church in Roanoke. Pastor Willie Meynard will officiate. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013, from 8 a.m. in the church.
Mrs. Jackson died on Sunday, May 12, 2013, at 6:30 a.m. in a Jennings care center.
She was born in Lake Arthur and resided in Roanoke prior to her death. She was a member of St. James Baptist Church where she served as usher and deaconess.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Barbara (Arthur) Lewis of Roanoke and Catherine Pattum of Lake Arthur; four brothers, Carlies McZeal Sr. of Jennings, George McZeal Sr. of Lake Arthur, Clayton (Cynthia) McZeal of Mermentau, and Charles (Wilma) McZeal of Franklin; six grandchildren, Nadlyn Rideaux of Jennings, Andrea Williams of Rosepine, Gregory Lewis of Moss Bluff, Lorenzo Collins of Pearland, Texas, Darrick Lewis of Kinder, and Nathaniel Keith Collins of Youngsville; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a godchild, Sgt. James M. Brister; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Jennie Chaney McZeal Sr.; a daughter, Delores Collins Malveaux; a grandson, Dwaine Lewis; a great-grandson, Brandis Lewis; a sister, Lela Mae McZeal; and three brothers, Hillary, Amos and Ray McZeal.
