In memoriam of Kenny Guidry and Burt LeBlanc

By SARAH MORRISON STEPHENS

Special To The Daily News

About once a year, I write about an event in my life that forever changed me, but I guarantee had a much deeper impact on other folks. This being National Police Officer Memorial week, I can’t think of a better time to share it again. But rather than just focus on the ending event, the night where my three friends were murdered, it is also very important to focus on their lives.

At the end of May 1990, I found myself in Jennings, Louisiana, fresh out of college toting a degree in Journalism and working for the Jennings Daily News.

I was 21 years-old, green as hell, and convinced I was going to conquer the world.
