John Adam LaBowe
The family and friends of John Adam LaBowe are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life and into the arms of Our Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2013.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held in honor of John’s life at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings today, Sunday, May 5, 2013, at 3 p.m. John will be laid to rest in Raymond-Hathaway Community Cemetery where he will be honored with full military rites. Father Charles McMillin will officiate.
A gathering of John’s family and friends to bid their final farewell was held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 4:30-9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed today, Sunday, May 5, 2013, at 10 a.m. until the time of his funeral mass.
John Adam was born in Hathaway to the late John LaBowe and the late Azena Gary LaBowe on October 8, 1928. John served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked as a railroad switchman for 44 years until his retirement. He loved his church and attending services. John enjoyed gardening, walking, visiting with his friends and watching his grandchildren play sports.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 60 beautiful years, Mildred Kratzer LaBowe of Jennings; his two sons, John Randall “Randy” LaBowe of Berwick, and Timothy Wayne “Tim” (Tammy) LaBowe of Youngsville; two daughters, Stephanie Anne (David) Short of Rayne, and Karen Lynne (Richard) Mott of Hathaway; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
John now rests in Heaven with his beloved family who preceded him in death: his parents, John and Azena LaBowe; one brother, Claude LaBowe; his three sisters, Letha Clement, Shirley Mae LaBowe and Edna LeJeune; one nephew, Larry Clement; and his daughter-in-law, Theresa LaFleur LaBowe.
