Despite a late start to this year’s rice crop, LSU AgCenter specialists predict an overall good crop this season as fields ripen. Unseasonably cool weather delayed the crop statewide, and some farmers in south Louisiana may face the problem of most rice maturing at once, causing harvest problems. Nevertheless, yields are expected to be better or equal to last year’s harvest.
