Ludren James LaPoint Sr.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Ludren James LaPoint Sr. announces his passing from this life on July 7, 2013, at the age of 67.
Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at 10 a.m. Mr. LaPoint will be laid to eternal rest in the Thornwell Cemetery. The Very Rev. Anthony Fontenot will officiate.
Visitation will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, from 2:30-9 p.m. with a rosary recited by Deacon Bennett McNeal at 7 p.m. Visiting hours will resume on Thursday, July 11, 2013, at 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral services at 10 a.m.
Ludren James was born in Mermentau to the late Ernest LaPoint and the late Leontine Blanchard LaPoint on Feb. 4, 1946. He worked as a warehouse supervisor for Leevac until his retirement. Ludren enjoyed fishing and cooking. He also loved going to “Walley World”.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra M. LaPoint of Jennings; his two sons, Ludren Jimmy (Keisha) LaPoint Jr. and Robert James LaPoint, all of Leesville; two step-sons, Kirk Joseph (Tiffanie) Guidry of Andrus Cove, and Craig Stephen (Roxana) Guidry of Lake Arthur; one sister, Lorena (Sherman) Crochet of Roanoke; his father and mother-in-law, Vernice and Totee Marceaux of Lake Arthur; and his 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Ludren was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Leontine LaPoint; and his five brothers, Rufus, Pierre “Bee”, Eugene “Tabi”, Clifford “Pete” and Nugie “Blackie” LaPoint.
Carrying Ludren to his eternal resting place will be Darius, Damien, Burton, Phillip and Robert LaPoint, Maison Richard, Kirk Guidry and Craig Guidry.
