After hitting on one another for the last three weeks, the Jennings Bulldogs were looking forward to a jersey color change. The Barbe Bucs of Lake Charles were a welcome sight Thursday in Jerry Simmons Stadium. The Bucs of class 5-A and the Bulldogs squared off in the first and only scrimmage of the season for Jennings. The two teams have opened things up scrimmaging one another for several years. Dog Head Coach Rusty Phelps and staff got a glimpse of what the future may hold.

“I’m very proud of these kids,” Phelps said. “We’ve got five new starters on the offensive line. We started off a little slow, but as the scrimmage progressed, we got better. We were getting hats on hats and we were starting to get a little movement. I thought we made some plays. I think what we’ve got to do is be a little more consistent.”
