Gerald M. Miller
Gerald M. “Jerry” Miller, 61, went to meet the Lord at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at his residence.
A funeral Mass was observed at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church with Father Keith Pellerin officiating.
Visitation was held on Monday, Aug. 5, from 3-9 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m. and continued today, Tuesday, from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home.
Jerry was born in Crowley on July 26, 1952, to C.J. and Mildred Ardoin Miller. Jerry loved his family and close friends. He was a very easygoing man who would give the shirt off of his back to help anyone. He enjoyed spending time working on electronics, clocks and other gadgets. He was an employee of Citgo Petroleum, Inc. for 39 years. He was a very active member of St. Martin de Pores Catholic Church. Jerry was also on the board of directors for CSE Federal Credit Union.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 37 years, Myra “Lynn” Young Miller; a son, Lance (Michelle) Miller; a daughter, Laura (Travis) Hebert; two grandchildren, Emily Miller and Mason Hebert, with the third, Ethan Miller, on his way; one brother, Randall Keith (Liz) Miller; and two sisters, Geraldine Miller and Jackie Canik.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Darrell Miller.
Pallbearers were Larry Hoover, Terry Horne, Kenny Young, Elroy Ardoin, Keith Miller and Paul Melton. Honorary pallbearers were Ken Gardner and Michelle Mercer.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Hillman Turner and his son Clint, Kenny Martel, and all the deputies and paramedics for their help and assistance as well as all of their close friends, neighbors, co-workers and extended family for the support and prayers shown to them at this difficult time.
