James Ray Gotte
The family and friends of James Ray Gotte are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on Aug. 8, 2013, at his residence in Jennings while surrounded by his loved ones. He was 56.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at St. Jules Catholic Church in Tee-Mamou at 11 a.m. Father David Broussard will officiate. James will be laid to eternal rest in Gotte’s Cemetery.
A gathering of James’s family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, from 10:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Visiting hours will resume on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 8 a.m. until the time of his funeral mass.
James Ray was born in Jennings to Amy Fruge Gotte and the late Louis Gotte on Aug. 1, 1957. He worked in the oil field until his retirement. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and making fishing nets. He also loved animals and growing malaton flowers. James was a very kind and loving person and will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
James is survived by his mother, Amy Fruge Gotte of Evangeline; one son, James Ray Gotte II, also of Evangeline; two daughters, Amy Gotte Leger of Lake Charles, and Curlis Marie (Clifton) Bergeaux of Jennings; one brother, Randy (Liz) Gotte of Evangeline; his sister, Mary (Ronnie) Fruge, also of Evangeline; and his five beautiful grandchildren whom he adored.
James was preceded in death by his father, Louis Gotte Sr.; his grandparents, Lawrence and Syvone Fruge and Julian and Edzenna Gotte; one brother, Louis Gotte Jr.; and his sister, Yvonne Ravey.
Carrying James to his eternal resting place in St. Jules Cemetery will be James Ray Gotte II, Clif Bergeaux, Uncle Randy Gotte, Larry Simon, Josh Gotte and Larry Thibodeaux.
