Jimmie Dale Bertrand
The family and friends of Jimmie Dale Bertrand are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life and entered into Heaven on Aug. 30, 2013, while in the comfort of her home at the age of 71.
Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at 10 a.m. She will be laid to eternal rest in Andrus Cove Cemetery. The Very Rev. Anthony Fontenot will officiate her services.
A gathering of Jimmie’s family and friends to bid their final farewell will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, from 2-10 p.m. with a rosary recited by Deacon Bennett McNeal at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral services.
Jimmie Dale was born in Welsh to the late Loveness Pierre Guidry and the late Edna Marie Hebert Guidry on Jan. 21, 1942. She worked at Bill’s Dollar Store as the store manager until retiring. Jimmie loved her family and enjoyed taking care of each and everyone of them. She also loved her little dog, Snuggles. She will be truly missed by all those who loved and cared for her.
Jimmie is survived by her son, John Carl (Elizabeth) Bertrand Jr. of Welsh; her four daughters, Lomalinda Ann Bertrand of Pine Island, Teresa Jones of Jennings, Brenda B. Young also of Jennings, and Felicia Myers of Lafayette; her nine grandchildren, two of which she raised as her own, Elizabeth Myers of Jennings, and Tucker Myers of Crowley; and 12 great-grandchildren. Jimmie also leaves behind to cherish her memories her two brothers, L.P. Guidry Jr. of Sulphur, and Frederick McKague of Virginia; and her eight sisters, Karen Hebert of Youngsville, Amalee Thomas of Moss Bluff, Sylvia Cormier of Jennings, Doris Hamilton of West Lake, Patty Morgan also of West Lake, JoEllen Hoag of Michigan, Billie Holzweissig of Mississippi, and Diane Breaux of Oregon.
Jimmie was preceded in death by her birth parents, Loveness P. and Edna H. Guidry; the parents who raised her, Fredrick and Claud Lee McKague; her husband, John Carl Bertrand; and a sister, Geraldine Guidry.
