The family and friends of Lillian Sonnier Ardoin are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life and entered into Heaven to be with her Lord on Aug. 20, 2013, at the age of 87.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held to celebrate her life at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings on Aug. 23, 2013, at 2 p.m. Mrs. Lillian will be laid to eternal rest in Calvary Cemetery. Father Charles McMillin will officiate her services.
A gathering of family and friends to bid their final farewell to her will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, from 2:30-9 p.m with a rosary recited by Mrs. Betty at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday, Aug. 23, at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass.
Lillian was born in Jennings to the late Drozen Sonnier Jr. and the late Victoria Fontenot Sonnier on Oct. 7, 1925. She worked as a school cafeteria manager for 32 years. She loved seeing the smiling faces of all the little children at school everyday. Lillian loved to cook and can. She also enjoyed dancing and going camping. The one thing she held so dear to her heart was spending time with her grandchildren whom she loved so dearly. She was a kind and loving lady and will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Lillian is survived by her beloved husband, Harry L. Ardoin Sr.; her three sons, Harry L. (Gloria) Ardoin Jr., Harold (Sherry) Ardoin, and Donald (Dolores) Ardoin, all of Jennings; one daughter, Carolyn (Andrew) Cormier of Jennings; two foster daughters, Rose Guidry of Lake Charles, and Audrey (Harold) Smith of Elton; her 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 13 great great-grandchildren.
Lillian now rests in Heaven with her beloved family who preceded her in death: her parents, Drozen Jr. and Victoria F. Sonnier; three brothers, Adolphe Joseph, Calvin and Melvin Sonnier; and three of her sisters, Leona Guillory, Mildred LaBouve and Joyce Newman.
Carrying Lillian to her eternal resting place in Calvary Cemetery will be her grandsons, Kirk Ardoin, Troy Cormier, Matt Cormier, Wade Ardoin, David Ardoin, Michael Ardoin and Todd Ardoin.
