The Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) School Board has pledged $100,000 in financial or in-kind support to the proposed $10 million Sowela campus slated to become a reality in Jennings.

The technical college stands to receive state funding through Senate Bill 204 if $1.2 million, or 10 percent of project funds, can first be raised by private donations to the school. According to Sowela Executive Director of Institutional Advancement Randy Jolly, some preliminary details of the project include a new campus that would be about 35,000 square feet in size and include programs such as manufacturing, pipefitting, welding, machinists, criminal justice, accounting, business and health care.
