WYAC keeping youth safely entertained

What began as a way for a local mom to entertain her children is now growing into something bigger and better for all local youth – the creation of the Welsh Youth Action Council (WYAC).

“My son had been driving to the dances in Lacassine,” said Welsh resident Andrea Baker, “but said there were things going on there that he didn’t really like.  So when my son asked me to start having dances in our town, we did it.”  Baker and her mother-in-law, Mona Derouen, approached Welsh Mayor Carolyn Louviere last October about the first dance.
