The Welsh Greyhounds have had a short week in which to prepare not one but two new quarterbacks to face the Iota Bulldogs. Welsh lost the services of senior Caleb Hayes early in last week’s game with South Beauregard, and then midway through the third stanza, backup quarterback Hayden Freeland was also injured and unable to finish the contest. Senior tight end Lane Giggar came on to finish Welsh’s overtime win over the Knights to move Welsh to 2-1 for the season.
“We will use Lane Giggar at quarterback again tonight,” commented Welsh Head Coach John Richardson. “He has worked hard this week getting in repetitions to prepare himself.” That move will allow junior Grant Watkins to move to the tight end position vacated by Giggar.
