Dewey Joseph Dommert
The family and friends of Dewey Joseph Dommert are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from his earthly existence and ascended into the arms of Jesus on Oct. 19, 2013, at the age of 80.
Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. with Father Charles McMillin officiating.
Visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, from 4:30-8 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visiting hours will resume today, Tuesday, at 1 p.m. until the time of his funeral service at 2 p.m.
Dewey was born in Iota to Frank Dommert and Louise Sensat Dommert on May 7, 1933. He worked in a grocery store for many years and enjoyed chatting with people from here and far.
Dewey liked to read, watch the History and Discovery channels on television, and he liked cats. He is survived by his beloved family from Hathaway, Neldarine “Nell” Miller, Danny and Lisa Semmes, Cristee, Basha and Khloe Semmes; and numerous cousins.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Louise S. Dommert; and his two brothers, Darrell Dommert and infant.
The family of Dewey Dommert would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Camelot Brookside Nursing Home and Dr. Charles Ray for the extraordinary care given to him.
