While riding to Longville traveling north on Highway 171 last Friday, it hit me. Tonight is week seven of the high school football season. Wow, the season has flown by, and yes, we’re having fun. The Jennings Bulldogs are on a three-game winning streak and are 2-0 in league play. They have upped their record to 4-3 after starting the year 1-3, losing those three games by a total of six points. Lesser teams would have given up and just played out the season, but not the Jennings Bulldogs. They fought through the bad times. That’s a testament to the players and the coaching staff.
The Bulldogs play in one of the toughest districts in the state and in any classifications. The Dogs found out things don’t get any easier as the season progressed. They played the South Beauregard Golden Knights Friday and had to fight to the end to secure a victory. The Knights were predicted to take fourth place in the five-team district, but someone forgot to tell them. They knocked off the Westlake Rams (some folks picking them and Iowa to win the crown) in the opening week of district play. For the complete story and more local news, please subscribe to Jennings Daily News by clicking subscribe or by calling 337-824-3011.
