The family and friends of Lawrence “Shorty” Ardoin are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on Oct. 24, 2013, at the age of 79.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Father Charles McMillin officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The Ardoin family requests visitation to be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings today, Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, from 5:30-9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visiting hours will resume on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. until the time of his funeral mass at 1 p.m.
Lawrence was born in Roanoke to Mark Ardoin and Augustine Chaisson Ardoin on Dec. 3, 1933. He was a supervisor for Supreme Contractors before completing his career in retirement. Lawrence was a kind-hearted person and always gave a helping hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed fishing, dancing and cooking. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Lawrence is survived by his two sons, Robert Craig (Cathryn) Ardoin of Spring, Texas, and Gerald Dwain (Peggy) Ardoin of Jennings; a daughter, Janet Ardoin (Matthew) Hargroder of Scott; two sisters, Rosa Belle Begneaux of Lacassine, and Wilma (Curtis) Miller of Lake Arthur; seven grandchildren, Brandy Middlebrooks, Brooke Theriot, Lauren Ardoin, Kenny Gary, Sarah Ardoin, Casey Ardoin and Blake Ardoin; and his 10 great-grandchildren, David, Sadie and Gavin Middlebrooks, Carson Theriot, Jett, Jaxon and Lyla Ardoin, and Kolby, Riley and Addison Gary.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores Dupuis Ardoin; his parents, Mark and Augustine C. Ardoin; a brother, John Ardoin; and a sister, Liza Manuel.
Carrying Lawrence to his eternal resting place in Calvary Cemetery will be Blake Ardoin, Casey Ardoin, Kenny Gary, Matthew Hargroder, Frank Theriot and Gordon Middlebrooks.
