Marguerite, or “Nanny” as she was fondly called by her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, worked for Dr. Louis Shirley for 51 years. She was a nurturer and caregiver. She was always worried that everyone was comfortable and had what they needed, even to the end of her life. Family gatherings were very important to her. She was a parishioner of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Marguerite married Claude Joseph Leger in 1953.
Her greatest joy was her children and their spouses; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, with whom she maintained a dedicated and loving relationship. She loved cooking and entertaining, family vacations and road trips, and supporting her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at ball games, dance recitals, and the various school functions and activities in which they were involved.
Marguerite is survived by her two children and their spouses, Dr. Thomas E. (Denise) Leger of Jennings, and Debbie Leger (Doug) Boudreaux of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Jessica Boudreaux (Michael) Buxton, Shannon Bailey, Doug (Erin) Boudreaux Jr. and Lauren Boudreaux (Jared) Whitehead; and eight great-grandchildren, Abigail Buxton, Gabriel Buxton, Zachary Buxton, Brayden Boudreaux, Sophie Monaco, Grayson Whitehead, Brody Boudreaux and Emery Whitehead.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend of 59 years, Claude Joseph Leger; her infant daughter, Claudia Marie Leger; her mother, Ozea Seilhan Doucet; her father, Alphonse Doucet; her siblings, Anna Lou Doucet Breaux, Esther Doucet Newton, Mildred Doucet Stroderd, Sylvia Doucet Huesers and Alphonse Newton Doucet.
Pallbearers will be Douglas Boudreaux Jr., Michael Buxton, Jared Whitehead, Gabriel Buxton, Stephen Huesers and Paul Stroderd. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Taylor, Norris Benoit, Larry Trahan, and Albert Seilhan.
The family would like to thank her loving caregiver Bernita Davis, Jeff Davis Home Health, Dr. James McNally and Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care for the exceptional care delivered to our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother in her final days
