It is with great sadness that the family of Milton Fontenot announces his passing from this life on Oct. 23, 2013. He was 91 years old.
Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at 2 p.m. in honor of his life. Mr. Fontenot will be laid to rest in St. Jules Tee-Mamou Cemetery where he will be honored with full military rites. He will then rest beside his beloved wife, Doris. Deacon Mike Tramel will be officiating his funeral service.
The Fontenot family has requested that visiting hours be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of his funeral services.
Milton was born in Evangeline to the late Dorsan Fontenot and the late Olezia LeJeune Fontenot on Aug. 24, 1922. Milton served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He was a carpenter by trade. Milton enjoyed fishing and hunting. Also, gardening was one of his favorite pastimes. Milton loved his chewing tobacco and drinking his coffee.
Milton is survived by his beloved children: three sons, Jerry Fontenot of Morse, Terry (Diane) Fontenot of Jennings and Perry Fontenot, also of Jennings; two daughters, Florence (Wayne) Gary of Plaquemine, and Jennifer (Ronnie) Desormeaux of Jennings; his six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his brother-in-law, Jester “Joe” Daigle of Jennings.
Milton will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Milton now rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Dorsan and Olezia LeJeune Fontenot; his beloved wife, Doris Daigle Fontenot; and his brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Trent Fontenot, Darrel Fontenot, Jeff Correll, John Hudnall, John Braxton Hudnall and Garland Teeter Menard. Honorary pallbearers will be Jester “Joe” Daigle and Wayne Gary.
